Portland Bridge Pickling Society

Share Share on FacebookShare on Twitter Share on Linkedin
A shared appreciation of good food sourced locally, an interest in traditional recipes and methods of preparation, and respect for local history and traditions – all these and more inspired neighbours and friends Carol Ann Ross and David Connor to form the Portland Bridge Pickling Society back in 2011.
The ‘Bounty of the County’ features prominently in the varied selection of pickles, jellies, salsas, chutneys and spreads we offer. We source our ingredients as locally as possible. Quince for one of our jellies comes from David’s tree, and Jerusalem artichoke from a patch between the houses. Hot and sweet peppers, raspberries, eggplant, cucumbers, tomatoes, and various herbs are all harvested in season from our gardens, or sourced from other local producers. The main ingredients of all of our preserves are sourced locally – we know the farmer who grew it, and the farmer might have been us.
