Wisdom of the Universe Mural

St. Andrew’s in Picton has been given permission by award-winning Metis artist, Christi Belcourt to install a mural of her AGO commissioned piece, Wisdom of the Universe, on its outside back wall.

This project engages us in two of Canada’s most vital conversations: our relationship to our Indigenous peoples and our relationship to the planet.

The Presbyterian Church in Canada, through its residential schools, partnered with the Government of Canada to annihilate Indigenous culture. In 1994, the Presbyterian Church in Canada prepared an official Confession and has encouraged churches across the country to be creative in responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action.

This initiative will be the first of a series of steps that invites an approach of listening and learning from an Indigenous perspective. They hope that it will facilitate further actions that involve restoring relationships among all peoples and species, and protecting the land which we all call home.
