The Department of Illumination presents Prince Edward County’s twelfth annual Scarecrow Festival on Thanksgiving weekend. You’re invited to make your very own scarecrow to take home with all supplies provided for $40. With a barn full of clothes and a mountain of straw with which to craft a character, the Scarecrow festival has seen a lot of weird and wonderful scarecrows created over the last dozen years.
“We see many families that come to the Scarecrow Festival year after year,” says organizer Krista Dalby. “Traditions are so important, and we’re thankful to be able to bring the festival back again this fall.”
All proceeds benefit The Department of Illumination, a not-for-profit arts organization celebrating their 10th anniversary this year. The Scarecrow Festival is part of THE NEXT TEN, their first major fundraising campaign in their decade-long history, as the organization strives for a more sustainable future to ensure they can keep bringing joy and creativity to Prince Edward County for the next ten years and beyond.
The annual Scarecrow Festival has become one of the County’s most beloved events of the season. Come one, come all, for a creative outing the whole family can enjoy! Rain or shine.
